JCS Affective Step Down Housing is rooted in the Minneapolis–St. Paul community and reflects a strong commitment to the Twin Cities’ values of diversity, compassion, and community support.
Founded by Jenny Gaines, JCS was created from both professional experience and lived understanding of the challenges women face in recovery. Since 2012, Jenny has worked with organizations serving women impacted by substance use, homelessness, trauma, and exploitation. Her personal journey of overcoming addiction, exploitation, homelessness, and domestic violence shapes the heart of JCS and its core belief that no one is defined by their past and that lasting recovery and stability are possible.
JCS Affective Step Down Housing provides safe, structured, and recovery-focused homes for women who are ready to move beyond treatment or traditional sober living into greater independence. JCS operates as a self-pay program and requires residents to have a minimum of one year of sobriety and the ability to pay independently. The program is designed for women who are stable in their recovery and prepared for increased personal responsibility while continuing to benefit from a supportive recovery community.
At JCS, the focus is on more than housing. The program provides a foundation for healing, dignity, and empowerment for women recovering from addiction, trauma, domestic violence, or exploitation. Through safe environments, supportive relationships, and clear expectations, JCS helps women build the stability and confidence needed to create healthy, independent lives.
